  • Agenda Planner
  • 1 new or used writing utensil
  • 1 USB flash drive with minimum of 1GB storage.

(You can purchase a 4GB Sandisk Cruzer USB drive for $15 or 50 Lancer Cards from me while supplies last.)

  • This course is divided into three levels: Beginning Digital Technologies (for 6th Graders), Intermediate Digital Technologies (for 7th Graders) and Advanced Digital Technologies (for 8th Graders).

  • The majority of Mann students will have the course once per year and the class lasts for one quarter (9 weeks).

  • We use Web 2.0 tools, such as blogging, podcasting, digital storytelling, educational social networks, global collaboration, multimedia projects, etc.

  • We learn about digital citizenship, ethics, internet safety, internet research, and how to evaluate the credibility of websites.

  • We use ThinkQuest.org and monitored private online discussion sites. (We do not go to MySpace, Facebook, Personal Email, or Public Chat Rooms.)

  • We use various resources to learn Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation Slide Shows, Desktop Publishing and Web Design.

  • We study computer ethics, especially copyright and fair use laws, and learn how to cite our sources.

  • We improve our visual learning by using graphic organizer software and web sites.

  • We practice keyboarding (typing) for a few minutes every day. If you want to pass your Typing Tests you merely need to show improvement in your speed and error rates.

  • For Example, During 4th Quarter (2008-09) We Used: From Toy to Tool: Cell Phones in Learning, Voice Thread for Education, TimeToast Timelines, Capzles Timelines, Glogster for Education, Animoto for Education, Voki for The Classroom, ToonDo, Scratch

(Instant Messaging, Texting, and Chat do not count as authentic practice unless you use standard English.) See me for the record sheet. Due before quarter late/makeup deadline.


You may complete a book report using one of the 50+ project types LISTED IN THIS WORD DOCUMENT. Reports must be computerized. Harder projects are worth more points. Due before quarter deadline.
